Kept my attention, an enjoyable read. I like the way this author writes and her stories are very entertaining. Well worth reading.
Time travel romances are my favorite genre - I've read just about all of them. "Once a Pirate" was pretty good, especially considering this is Grant's first work, but it lacked a certain OOMPH.
This book started out interesting and had a great ending, but the entire huge middle portion was a little on the boring side. The hero and heroine were on a boat...and on a boat...and on a boat...and on a boat. When they finally made it to an island, the book is almost finished.
I don't know, maybe I was expecting more because of the raving reviews on this book, but I ended up glossing over a lot of the middle. After a while, I was hoping the boat would sink or something just so they would have different scenery.
I have to say, though, that this is Grant's first book. I think she shows a lot of potential. She just needs to add a little more zest to the middle of the book. A nice beginning is wonderful, a nice ending is terrific, and if she adds some more flair to the middle, the sky will be the limit for this writer.
Lieutenant Carly Callahan is a F18C fighter pilot who is suddenly trapped in a sudden storm and fall to the ocean.
The good news are that Carly find herself in the middle of a battle in the Atlantic ocean and rescued but the bad news are the rescuer was a pirate and the date 1821.
Confused and without much hope
Carly needs to find her way home and her time while securing her heart from the handsome captain .
Carly will share lots of adventures on board of the Phoenix while falling in love with Captain Andrew.
For what it was it was good. It was both sad and sweet. A nice read. There are some parts of the book that does not really fit but it was still a nice read
I'm a fan of a well-written time-travel romance, and this did not disappoint.
The characters were well-drawn, with real emotions. It was easy to fall in love with both Carly and Andrew--and to root for them when all seemed lost.
The ending was a surprise--and a thrill. I will definitely shelve this one on my "keeper shelf."
I look forward to reading Ms. Grant's next book, THE STAR KING.
