A Game of Persuasion Extended Prologue for The Art of Ruining a Rake Scandalous Spinsters Book 3 edition by Emma Locke Romance eBooks Reviews
This was s much a good story but it h as d the stupidest ending I have ever read. I usually 'read the reviews before I buy a book but I didn't this time and I played for it.
Lucy has been in love with her brother's best friend forever and she plans to do something about it. She only wants a night, one night to give her memories when she runs a school for young ladies. She does not plan on marrying, especially not to Roman, he is not even remotely husband material. Her father was a man like him and her parents marriage ended tragically. What's an innocent girl to do? Seek advice from her friend, her brother's former love interest before he discovers she had been a courtesan. The novella is meant to be a prologue to the next novel and it does succeed. It did have the desired effect of making me anxious to read The Art of Ruining a Rake to find out the outcome.
Romance is the name of the game in this book. This book delivers what we all want more romance and excitement in our life. Overall i am very well pleased with this book and the excitement it has brought me. This book had me unwilling to put it down until I turned the last page. Would I recommend this book to other people? Yes I would including friends .I absolutely think this is great book. All opinions are my own and they are not influenced by anyone but myself. If this review helped you at all please vote yes below.
Had forgotten I liked this author. This is kind of a bridge book, a story that takes place at the same time as her previous novel, so I may go back and read it, to refresh the story. It's well written but the H/h are not always likeable. She fears becoming mentally deranged, as her mother was, he is beyond a rake, actually a gigolo of sorts. Since the story continues in the next book, I have to say there is very little to recommend this man as redeemable , though he's quite handsome and a skilled lover. Will be surprised if he is able to become likeable . Very troubled couple to love.
...to The Art of Ruining a Rake. Fleshes out the feelings and actions both before and after "the incident" that changed both the heroine's and hero's lives. I also loved reading more about Celeste & Ash (Trestin), who are still coming to terms with their relationship, or lack thereof, in this book. Their story, The Trouble With Being Wicked, is another great read.
Not to reveal the ending, the story did not end as anticipated, which is not a big deal when the characters and story is interesting, that said. The characters were somewhat boring, not interesting something was missing. I'm glad this was a short story because I only stayed till the end to fulfill my curiosity.
if you've read the first book in the series, The Trouble With Being Wicked, you'll be very familiar with the plot of this novella already. This is an extended prologue for the following book, The Art of Ruining A Rake. It retells the story of Lucy Lancester, who enlists the help of former courtesan Celeste Gray to seduce her girlhood crush, Roman Alexander. While we already got the gist of what happened through Celeste's and Trestin's eyes, it was pretty interesting to find out the rest of the details from Lucy's point of view.
I could not believe the ending. We are left hanging with all the characters in the middle of their problems after a long book. UGH!!
